  1. Open the 2nd Saturday of every month, with occasional extra concerts, Millbend Coffeehouse is dedicated to bringing the finest in national and local acoustic, folk, original songwriters and performers to an informal and intimate smoke free and family friendly environment. Millbend Coffeehouse began in December 1992 as a non-profit venue hosted by Northwoods Unitarian Universalist Church in the Woodlands and has donated tens of thousands of dollars to local charities since its inception. Originally, the shows were opened by local poets and occasionally they still are, although currently the majority of the openers are some of the many amazingly talented Houston area songwriters. Often, there are art exhibits and showings of local painting, sculpture, or crafts for sale before and after the performances. It is a relaxed, up close atmosphere where the audience can meet the entertainers and obtain copies of the hard to find CDs of these professional performers. All profits from the concerts go to local charities and causes and the donations are determined by audience vote at each concert and the winners are announced at the intermission. Gourmet Fair Trade coffee and a variety of cake, pies, cheese plates, and scrumptious pastries are available from the kitchen, as well as juices and soft drinks. Northwoods Unitarian Universalist Church, 1370 N. Millbend Dr, The Woodlands, (936) 499-9559. All concerts begin at 7:30 pm.
