The Woodlands, Texas – A memorial tribute hosted by The Mitchell Family and The Cynthia Woods Mitchell Pavilion, with special thanks to The Woodlands Development Company, honors George P. Mitchell Thursday, Aug. 8 at 7:30 p.m. This event is open to everyone who wishes to share in celebrating Mitchell’s life and accomplishments. Tickets are not required for the event. Gates open at 6 p.m. and all parking is free. Water only is available for purchase from the concession stands for $2. No other food or drinks are available for purchase.

This memorable evening celebrates Mitchell’s contributions to science, energy and the environment, at the outdoor amphitheater he built and named for his wife in the hometown he created in the forest. There are performances by the Houston Symphony, the Texas A&M Singing Cadets along with featured guest speakers. “We are honored to host this fitting tribute at The Pavilion, where so many people who have been touched by Mr. Mitchell’s life can come together to honor his memory,” said Jerry MacDonald, president and CEO of The Pavilion.

Mitchell, founder of The Woodlands, passed away July 26, at the age of 94. In 1974, he created The Woodlands, a 25,000-acre master-planned community. For more information, visit www.woodlandscenter.org.
