The Woodlands Children’s Museum October Offerings

The Woodlands Children Museum Oct OfferingsTHE WOODLANDS, TX – The Woodlands Children’s Museum is definitely the place to be in October – including the Mad Hatter Tea Party and the Original Halloween SpookTacular Monster Mash Party, to mention just a few of the scheduled activities.

Mark your calendars for these upcoming events:

Mad Hatter Tea Party brings “Alice in Wonderland” to life at the museum. Have child-friendly tea and decorate cookies with the Queen of Hearts, chat with the Mad Hatter and make a creative art project. The celebration is scheduled for 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Friday, October 4. The party is included in the price of admission.

TOMS World Sight Day sets aside time to recognize a critical global issue – visual impairment and blindness. The Woodlands Children’s Museum is teaming up with TOMS Eyeware to offer free eye exams for children – and a variety of fun activities and art projects geared around sight. The event is slated for 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Thursday, October 10 – and all the extra fun is included in the price of admission.

The Original Halloween SpookTacular Monster Mash Party begins at 4 p.m. and lasts until 8 p.m. on Thursday, October 31. The museum is closed during the day, while staff transforms the space into a Halloween wonderland – unveiling all child-friendly games, art projects and activities. Since the museum caters to children 7 and under, nothing will be scary. Games will include Pin-the-Bowtie on the Skeleton, Dodging Donuts, Monster Ring Toss and Slimy Science. Children can walk through the glow-in-the-dark bat cave, explore the Halloween gross-out sensory area and have fun in the bone dig. Costumes are encouraged. Presale tickets are available, $7 for members and $9 for non-members.

The Boogie Bash is for young toddlers to children age 5. It encourages cooperation, promotes social interaction, helps develop a sense of rhythm and strengthens listening skills. Stop by at 11 a.m. on Tuesdays – October 1, 8, 15, 22 and 29 — to get down and boogie. The bash is included in the price of admission.

Crazy about Critters is a popular time for children to meet new animal friends and learn about their natural habitats. Visit the museum at 11 a.m. on the first and third Wednesday of the month, October 2 and 16. The event is included in the price of admission.

Read & Build combines construction play and reading. Join the museum  for a story time, and then build with Lego® Duplo® blocks and accessories at 11:30 a.m. on the second and fourth Wednesday of the month, October 9 and 23. The event is included in the price of admission.

Shadow Puppet Theatre brings stories to life with the help of handmade shadow puppets. Shows are planned at 11 a.m. on Thursday morning, October 3, 10, 17 and 24. The event is included in the price of admission.

Story Book Theatre hosted by the Junior League is scheduled for 11 a.m. each Friday – October 4, 11, 18 and 25. The event features a book reading and related activity. The show is included in the price of admission.

“October is a busy month at The Woodlands Children’s Museum,” executive director Angela Colton said. “Plus, we always have fun exhibits to explore – all carefully designed to engage young minds. Come for the event, and then stay and play at the museum.”

The Woodlands Children’s Museum schedules a variety of events throughout the year – and has several exhibits focused on cultural enrichment, education and creativity. Children may now enroll in fall programs as well.

Daily admission is $5 per person 2 years and older. Admission is free for children under 2 and museum members. Recommended for ages 7 years and under.
