Bodie J. Beard, a local real estate Broker Associate specializing in commercial properties, with Keller Williams Realty – The Woodlands and Magnolia was recently awarded the Realtor Emeritus Status by the National Association of Realtors, Inc. (NAR).

The Realtor Emeritus status is awarded in recognition of forty cumulative years of membership in NAR and in recognition of valuable contribution to the real estate profession and the community.

This award has been presented to approximately 8,500 recipients out of the approximate 1.1 million Realtors in the U.S.

The National Association of Realtors is the world’s largest Professional Association. It is composed of Realtors who are involved in residential and commercial real estate as Brokers, Salesperson, Property Managers, Councilors, Appraisers, and others engaged in all aspects of the real estate industry. The term REALTOR is a registered collective membership mark that identifies a real estate professional who is a member of NAR and abides to its strict Code of Ethics.

Bodie J. Beard, a native of Hattiesburg, Mississippi began his real estate career in the early 60’s with his father’s real estate firm, becoming a third generation Realtor. Managing 123 residential homes, he later advanced into sales. In 1968 he relocated to Houston where he managed and leased large medical and professional office buildings and later as a Trust Officer, managing the commercial real estate assets held in Trust with Houston Citizens Bank and Trust. He obtained a Texas Real Estate Brokers License and became a Texas Realtor.

Beard’s diversified career also includes managing large port-folios of Multi-Family, Commercial, Industrial, and Office Buildings for the Institutional Sector, office building development, leasing, residential, commercial, timberland, and real estate appraisal. He holds the Professional Designation of CPM “Certified Property Manager” awarded by the Institute of Real Estate Management (IREM), where he served as Dean and Senior Faculty Member of the National Faculty of IREM as well as the Real Estate Institute of Canada (REIC).

He served as a Regional Vice President, Senior Vice President over 4 of IREM’s 7 Divisions, 4 years as a member of IREM’s Executive Committee and the IREM Governing Council. Due to his authorship with the Journal of Property Management, he was inducted into IREM’s prestigious Academy of Authors. After 25 years instructing throughout the U.S., Canada, and Hawaii, he received the “Faculty Emeritus” and “CPM Emeritus” status with IREM.

Beard is President of The BEARD REALTY GROUP, Inc. who is an independent contractor affiliated with KW The Woodlands. He is also a State Certified General Real Estate Appraiser and has been a Designated Member of the Appraisal institute for the past 30 years holding the SRA and SRPA designations. Field Variety assignments have included the appraisal of numerous steel mills, a bauxite mine in Perth, Australia, Marine Petroleum Terminals on the west coast, Petroleum Tank Farms throughout the US, Various Food Processing Plants, such as Nestle, 90 service stations for one petroleum company, a Nuclear Plant, just to name a few. He is a Contributing Author for the book “Appraising Industrial Properties” and authored the chapter dealing with the appraisal of Steel Mills.

He has been invited to speak before a National Convention for BOMA International, the National Apartment Association, numerous National Conventions, a NAR National Convention in Hawaii, and numerous Realtor State Conventions. He has twice received the Omega Tau Rho Award, which is the Highest award bestowed by the National Association of Realtors.

Bodie and his wife Lynn relocated from Houston to the Village of Panther Creek in The Woodlands where they have resided for approximately 11 years.
